The Plot
Ricky is the brainchild of three childhood buddies: Dean (Zac Efron), JT (Andrew Santino), and Wes (Jermaine Fowler).

Twenty years later, Dean, JT, and Wes are all grown men with families, but their reliance on the fictional Ricky hasn’t waned.
He’s become their go-to alibi for avoiding responsibilities, sneaking off for boys’ weekends, or dodging chores.
Their wives—exasperated but not entirely clueless—start raising eyebrows. The pressure mounts when the guys announce they all need to attend a sudden “Ricky” emergency, this time for surgery.
Desperate to maintain the charade, the trio hatches a ludicrous plan. They decide to hire an actor to impersonate Ricky at an upcoming family gathering.
Rod “Rock Hard” Richards (John Cena) is a washed-up performer known for his, ahem, “unique” brand of celebrity impersonations.
Things don’t go according to plan. Rod, with his over-the-top personality and questionable morals, throws the guys’ carefully constructed world into hilarious chaos.
The families are suspicious—how can this flamboyant stranger be the quiet, responsible friend they’ve heard so much about?
Meanwhile, the guys struggle to keep Rod in line and prevent their elaborate lie from unraveling.
As the situation spirals out of control, Dean, JT, and Wes are forced to confront some tough truths.
They realize their reliance on the non-existent Ricky has stunted their emotional growth and created distance within their relationships.
