The Plot
Monkey Man is a film that weaves a tale of a young man, Kid, consumed by a relentless pursuit of vengeance against the corrupt forces that destroyed his life.
The story unfolds in the fictional Indian city of Yatana. Kid, a nameless figure in the narrative, resides in a remote village with his mother, Neela.
Their simple lives are steeped in the tales of Hanuman, the monkey god revered for his strength, loyalty, and unwavering devotion.
However, their idyllic existence is shattered when Baba Shakti, a charismatic but ruthless spiritual guru, sets his sights on the village’s land.
Shakti dispatches Rana Singh, the city’s corrupt police chief, to force the villagers out. The confrontation turns violent, leading to a brutal massacre.
Neela, determined to protect Kid, manages to hide him before Rana claims her life. Witnessing his mother’s murder leaves Kid with a profound sense of grief and a horrific reminder etched onto his hands—permanent scars from his futile attempt to save her.
Years pass, and Kid emerges in the underbelly of Yatana. He wears a monkey mask, a symbol of both Hanuman’s power and the anonymity he craves.
To survive, he becomes a lowly fighter at Tiger’s Temple, a brutal underground boxing club. There, victory isn’t the goal; it’s losing convincingly for a hefty pay-off.
Yet beneath his weathered exterior and brutal fighting style burns an inextinguishable fire—the desire for vengeance.
Fate offers a kid a chance encounter. He steals a valuable necklace from a wealthy socialite, unaware that it belongs to Meera, the estranged wife of Rana Singh.
This act of desperation lands him an improbable job within Shakti’s inner circle—working as a server at their exclusive club, a den of opulence frequented by the very people responsible for his suffering.
Working among the city’s elite allows Kid to get closer to his targets. He observes their machinations, their arrogance, and their disregard for the plight of the marginalized.
Driven by his burning rage and fueled by the stories of Hanuman’s bravery, Kid meticulously plans his retribution.
As he navigates this treacherous world, Kid forms an unlikely bond with Meera.
Disillusioned with her opulent lifestyle and ostracized by Rana, Meera becomes a reluctant confidante in Kid’s simmering anger.
Their connection adds a layer of emotional complexity to the film, forcing Kid to confront the potential consequences of his violent path.
As Kid gets closer to his ultimate target, the lines between vengeance and justice begin to blur.
He must decide whether simply eliminating those responsible will truly bring him any solace.
